The day is finally here when we get some new Stephen Malkmus songs! Wooo! I might not be able to contain myself here. Okay, it is only one song, but still! It's called Baltimore, and I like the way it's sounding. Traditional Malk-style songwriting for about 3 minutes, and then as soon as Steve croons "I'm in love with a soldier from Baltimore," the song delves off into a folksy jam not uncharacteristic of recent Jicks work. Basically, it reminds me of Face The Truth, which is a good thing. I look forward to the new record, Real Emotional Trash, out March 4 on Matador.
